BOSTON — There was a wild scene outside the Mets’ clubhouse after tonight’s 3-2 win over the Red Sox when closer Frankie Rodriguez collapsed from back spasms and required medical attention.
Rodriguez suffered the back spasms — the first of his career, he said — while running in pregame warmups and was unavailable to pitch the ninth inning.

Has Mike Pelfrey overcome the “yips” he had in his last start that caused him to balk 3 times? He saw a sports psychologist to help him with the issue, which may have stemmed from his preoccupation with runners on base. Key for him will be to keep Jacoby Ellsbury, 17 game hitting streak, off base. The Sox are not a fast team but will take advantage of a pitcher with problems...
