ESPN Can’t Seem to Get Enough of the Mets →
The Mets-Cardinals game got a 1.6 rating (or 2.2 million viewers) on April 18, the same as the previous week’s Cardinals-Brewers game. A rating was not available for the Mets’ rain-shortened win over Atlanta on Sunday. “They have delivered,” Ryan said.
Why is CitiField still empty?
The Mets are on a roll, and have been for a week and a half. Through the 9-1 homestand, the park was pretty much empty. Why are fans staying away from CitiField despite the team playing so well?
I went to Twitter to find out why and here are some answers from fans:

Wright In Rare Company : Gehrig, Ruth and DiMaggio
Tonight, as David Wright collected his 1000th hit in his 868th game, with 143 homeruns, he became one of only three other New York baseball players in history to collect those numbers in that many games or less. Only Gehrig, Ruth and DiMaggio are in that same category.
Quite an accomplishment for Wright, putting him among the greatest players in New York baseball history.

Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Major League Baseball is cracking down on Twitter usage, ordering MLB.com writers to cease tweeting about all non-baseball topics and scolding players for their Twitter usage in general.

Old Time Family Baseball: Ryan Howard, Albatross →
I’m sure most of you have already read the analysis and why the Phillies 5 year, $125 million dollar commitment to Ryan Howard is a bad idea. And it is. He’s a declining player with a skill set that deteriorates quickly. Think Mo Vaughn or David Ortiz.
However, my take is a little different….

Near the end of winter my neighbor’s younger brother died unexpectedly. Emily and I are friendly with our neighbor, and offered him our condolences. But we don’t really know each other, for all the usual city reasons that you regret on one level but mostly look past while you’re busy being busy.
On Sunday I was walking through the neighborhood when I came across my neighbor rolling a...
Game 18 - AT THE GAME! Mets Reach .500 With Win!
metsfansforlife:
Game time conditions were listed as 64 degrees and partly cloudy, but the sun felt at least another ten degrees warmer and there did not seem to be a cloud in the sky as the Mets moved to 9-9 on the season after a 3-1 win on an absolutely beautiful afternoon in Flushing.
The morning began with a breakfast tailgate, which included family, a some-assembly-required Blue Rhino...

Dog House Resident of the Week: What Happened,...
David Wright hasn’t looked too good at the plate. To me, he still looks like he’s trying to hit 5-run home runs whenever anybody is on base in front of him, and continues to strike out at a scary, scary pace. In 26 plate appearances last week, he’s got 10 strikeouts, and only 2 walks and 4 hits. For someone who’s the face of a franchise, this is a problem. I’m going...

Man-Crush of the Week: I Like Ike.
Isaac Benjamin Davis made his Major League debut on Monday, April 19th, 2010, and since that day, the Mets have lost 1 game. Coincidence? Absolutely not. Ike, who if I understand correctly we all like, is batting .318 with a double and a home run, a couple of RBI, all while playing beyond solid, sometimes over-the-top defense. He’s single-handedly* saving the Mets from their poor start.
