I’m glad the Mets have decided to portray some historic moments in the form of fanwalk bricks, but, as usual, it didn’t go 100% smoothly.
It’s been fixed since being put down, but take a look at the brick above. See a problem with it? No? Sid Fernandez did not get the win. Roger McDowell did. So, did nobody bother to confirm this before making and placing the brick? Did the guys in charge interact thusly?
Suit A: “I want to immortalize game 7 of the World Series on a brick.”
Suit B: “Sounds great! Let’s point on Keith’s, Ray’s, and Sid’s great games. What do you think?”
Suit A: “Perfect. Sid did get the win, right?”
Suit B: “Yeah?”
Suit A: “Sounds right to me, let’s go with it.”
Suit B: “But shouldn’t we just—”
Suit A: “There’s no time, man. Just DO it.”
