To quote Greg Brown’s heinous catchphrase, “It’s a Bay Day!”
Jason Bay broke out of his season-long power slump with two home runs off of Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia. His last home run came on April 27th against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Mets fans can only hope that Bay doesn’t continue to struggle in CitiField.
David Wright, who hasn’t been the same since moving into the new stadium, continued his inability to make contact, striking out twice including in the first inning with the bases loaded and only one out. While Wright’s power has returned, he now has 60 strikeouts on the season and is on pace to strike out over 200 times. Only twice this month has Wright not struck out at least once in a game.
