Four Weeks.

Four weeks ago tomorrow, the Mets lost to the Yankees 2-1 and fell to 20-23. Jose Reyes was hitting .211 at the time.

Today, just 23 games later, the Mets are 38-28.  During the 18-5 run, Jose Reyes has put up the following numbers:

  • 36-97, .371 AVG., .419 OBP, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 8 SB, 0 CS, 10K, and 16 runs.

While Met pitching has been spectacular and David Wright has caught fire, it is unequivocal that the Mets go as Reyes go. His hot streak has run alongside the Met hot streak. Also, the Mets are 25-6 when Reyes scores a run. The Mets are a dangerous team when their leadoff man is making things happen.

What a difference a month makes. Coming up tomorrow: The exact same pitching match-ups that triggered this remarkable run.

Note: In the same 23 game period, David Wright is hitting .311 with 4 HR and 23 RBI.
