Though the flaws within the Mets are by the design of Omar Minaya and execution of Jerry Manuel, there’s still nothing so wrong with this team that they can’t play entertaining baseball. We can haggle all you like in the Hot Stove Season about how this team should look next April, but let’s take the next few weeks to look for positive signs from which we can build a contender. And if they decide to pleasantly surprise us with a last-minute playoff race instead of another late Summer fade, we can wag our finger at the bandwagon bailouts who showed their true fan colors.
