oldtimefamilybaseball:

The top of the ninth inning of the Mets 3-1 victory against the Astros showed off all the many and varied things that Jeff Francouer can do.
With runners on the corners and one out, Jeff Francouer swung wildly at a pitch in the dirt that went to the backstop. Fortunately, David Wright was able to score on the pitch so no harm, no foul.
Then, miraculously, Francouer fouled off many pitches and worked the count full. If I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it either. He then rocketed a ball to the left-center gap and he hustled the whole way into third base while driving in Carlos Beltran. In that moment, you can see why teams keep giving him chances. He looks like an amazing ball player; one with a smooth swing, hustle, and he currently sprouts a nice looking beard.
But to end the inning, Francouer was thrown out at the plate to end the inning on a strange looking 3-3-2 double play. Now, Francouer wasn’t wrong to run, and it was really a great job of plate blocking by Jason Castro as Francouer’s foot was lifted over home plate before touching, but it certainly doesn’t help his cause to make the last out of the game.

Nice guy, but sorry, we can do so much better.
